Seckford Care is a Finalist in the ‘Excellence in Activities & Engagement’ and ‘Volunteer of the Year’ categories at the ‘Suffolk Care Awards 2026’

Seckford Care is delighted to have been shortlisted as a Finalist in two categories – ‘Excellence in Activities & Engagement’ and ‘Volunteer of the Year’ – at the ‘Suffolk Care Awards 2026’, taking place at Venue 16, Ipswich on 25th November 2026. 

The Seckford Care Activities team – headed by Mandy Button, Deputy Manager of Jubilee House – provides a wide range of fun and educational activities and classes, such as knitting, flower arranging, art, singing, poetry, photography and book clubs, and is continually looking for new experiences to stimulate and engage residents, to help to combat loneliness and promote wellbeing.

Seckford Care’s nominated ‘Volunteer of the Year’ is Geoff Jacobs, who was a regular visitor when his wife was cared for in Jubilee House. When she sadly passed away in 2024, Geoff continued to visit other residents, and – in the past two years – has volunteered to work in the resident shop once a week, as well as joining the ‘buddy scheme’, where he pairs up with another resident to provide company and companionship. He also comes in yearly, dressed as Father Christmas, to hand out our presents to all residents at the Christmas lunch.

The prestigious ‘Suffolk Care Awards’, hosted by Care Development East and now in their milestone 10th year, aim to recognise and celebrate the work of the care sector and the local communities that have continued to support them. 

The Awards also provide a valuable opportunity to highlight the work of those individuals who are delivering the highest levels of care every day.

Seckford Care is a previous winner of the ‘Team of the Year (Large Provider)’ at the ‘Suffolk Care Awards’, and has been shortlisted as a Finalist in various categories, including ‘End of Life Care’ and ‘Equality, Diversity & Inclusion’.
