Seckford Care celebrates the 80th anniversary of VE Day

Residents got into the VE Day spirit recently, when they came together to celebrate the 80th anniversary, sharing stories and recollections over a delicious street party spread.

Cassie Parratt, Head of Care, said:
“We held a wonderful celebration for the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Residents and staff enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea and war time songs from the choir in our Chapel.
“VE Day is a special day for our residents, and it was lovely to see so many people join in the celebrations.”

Sharing his wartime memories, resident Earnest recalled:
“I was stationed in Germany, not far from Belsen. VE Day always takes me back to the celebrations in London, lots of people celebrated by having bonfires!”

Resident Rosemary also looked back:
“VE Day always meant lots of street parties and fun, it signalled peace. The Party here at Seckford was a wonderful way to celebrate and remember all my family that served in the war.”
