Raising residents’ awareness of dementia

Residents have enjoyed a ‘Dementia Friends’ awareness talk, hosted by Cathy O’Brien, Education Team Lead at Hospice Education.

St Elizabeth Hospice, in Ipswich, and St Helena Hospice, in Colchester, collaborate on an extensive range of healthcare training sessions and workshops – both online and in person – through the joint ‘Hospice Education’ programme.

The session at Seckford Care was aimed at informing residents about communicating with people living with dementia, as well as raising awareness for the different approaches and techniques that they could use.

Residents were really engaged throughout the morning, and reported back that they found the session informative and helpful.
