Illuminati Concert to raise funds for hidden gem of Woodbridge, the Seckford Almshouses Chapel

The historic Seckford Almshouses Chapel is opening its doors to the Woodbridge community for a special evening of choral music, in aid of the chapel’s refurbishment project. The excellent, local Illuminati Choir will be singing on Saturday, June 8, at 7.30pm, with free admission and a retiring collection.

The summer concert will give local people a unique opportunity to see inside the historic Seckford Almshouses Chapel – a hidden Victorian gem in the heart of Woodbridge, which dates back to 1843. The Grade II listed chapel is part of the Seckford Almshouses site, on Seckford Street, and is well-used by residents of the Almshouses for events and religious services.

The refurbishment project will cost a total of £75,000, half of which will be funded by the Seckford Foundation charity, and the remaining sum is being fundraised by the Chapel Friends Group. So far, the local community has helped to raise almost £19,500 towards the project over the past year. Details of the refurbishment plan will also be available on the evening.

Sarah Kopferschmitt, Head of Seckford Care, said: “We are looking forward to a wonderful evening of music from the Illuminati Choir, set in our historic chapel in the heart of Woodbridge, to welcoming local people for this special concert and to help us raise funds towards the refurbishment.”

The Illuminati Choir concert will be hosted on Saturday, June 8, at 7.30pm with free admission and refreshments available. The Seckford Almshouses Chapel is on Seckford Street, Woodbridge, IP12 4NB.
